Field Notes

Description:

A small adult or near adult at about 8 inches long. It is a beautiful little snake with a bright yellow or orange belly which it uses to frighten away predators or distract from the head.

Habitat:

A gravel path through preserved pine rocklands.

Notes:

One pic shows the hoof of a miniature horse (that was being walked) for size comparison.
