Description:

The American Coot is a bird of the family Rallidae, inhabiting wetlands and open water bodies. Measuring 13–17 inches in length and 23–28 in across the wings, adults have a short thick white bill and white frontal shield, which usually has a reddish-brown spot near the top of the bill between the eyes.

Habitat:

Radnor lake, Tennessee.

Is there Moorhens and Coots around a lake with Lotus plants in it.. They walk on their leafs... Have you seen them...?
I love owls too! We have a pair of great horned owls that we hear every day but sadly never see!
Yes... I feel same here....I saw every time an Owl in darkness of Nigh... they disappears very quickly.... Owl is my most favorite bird...!!
That's true Ashish, & today I spotted several a pileated woodpeckers, winter wrens & an ovenbird but sadly didn't manage to get an even halfway decent photo of any of them because of the poor light! I did get a real thrill out of seeing them though! :)
Karen... Spotting is more important than... how you take good birds..!! Hope Emma agree.. She also love to spotting at such good places..!!
It is Ashish! It's one of my favorite places round here to walk. Not so good today though as it was cold, dark & wet!
