The bills are also a little different. It can be hard to use the unless you have the right angle and lighting. The scientific name for the Canada Goose is Branta canadensis. I would appreciate having that added. Also, here is a link entry.

@ 1Sarah2: I can't decide if you're right or not. One of the key differences appears to be neck length, but I can't tell because it's got its neck all curled up. I wish I could see the tail markings, that would be another way. According to the range chart, cackling geese don't come to Alabama, but then again, those things are never 100% accurate. Cackling geese are a subspecies of canada anyway, so we're probably both at least half right. :)
