Field Notes

Description:

Like pink cones emerging from the ground.

Habitat:

Cardamom plantation in Munnar, Kerala. The property had a tiny stream running through it and these were growing a little along the uphill slope on the side of the stream. I was on the "bridge" across the stream but there was no access to this strange plant. The staff at the resort said it was Wild-ginger."

Notes:

I would love an ID. Help please.

Thank you, Chief. May I take this opportunity to wish you a very happy 2017. Lots of spottings too. I have recently suggested an ID for the pink and gold moth you spotted...take a look please, if you have a moment.
