Description:

This flock of Cormorants was quite large and they were flying high along the coast in a south-westerly direction. I thought they were Geese at first, I was not aware that Cormorants flew in such neat formations. They are not listed as migratory so perhaps this is more a seasonable movement.

Habitat:

Flying along coast high up.

Yes, I looked at your wiki link, it seems some of the European ones migrate southwards along the coast in winter, but only as far as North Africa (I presume the coast as there is little water inland!)

I saw a much bigger group a day or two later but not as neat as this. Searching for the photos right now!

My guess would be the Ebro Delta or somewhere further south along the Levante coast where there are many favourable sites. When I visit Moro Marsh (just north of Valencia) I often see Cormorants flying in from out at sea, but not this high.
