Field Notes

Habitat:

Found this in about 30 feet of water on a night dive. Location is Twin Rocks dive site in Anilao, Batangas, Philippines. It seemed to be guarding a nest amidst a mix of hard and soft coral.

Notes:

This was a pretty chunky fellow: perhaps, 1.5 feet in length and pretty stout all around.

Species ID Suggestions

Cuttlefish

Sepia officinalis

Hi Robert. This would be a good addition to the Mollusca mission! I hope you'll include it -- and your other mollusks -- in the mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/12147638
