Field Notes

Description:

small white mushroom with purple=brown "eye spot" and white gills

Habitat:

second growth forest

Notes:

According to the Audobon field guide: Range Washington to Californoa.

This is representative of a large number of regional endemics, "species that may be very common in a given area but are restricted geographically. There are more than 50 species of lepiota on the West Coast, most are not widely distributed. Because some of the small lepiotas are known to be poisonous, none can be recommended

Species ID Suggestions

Hygrophorus pustulatus

closer.... the picture shows as darker than they are, if that's any help. I should post the more distant one I took
Take the ID-suggest as a guess.
My gut said not amanitas... and looking up gun powder gray, I can say, definitely not. These are small and almost paper thin. The Amanitas have more substance, plus I don't think any of them have the purple/brown eye(or nipple) spot
