Field Notes

Description:

This is a pet black swan that had escaped his home on another island and showed up on Chebeague and was finally caught and brought back home. He sometimes leaves his home and if not found has made his way back to his home within a few days. These birds are native to Australia and have been introduced to New Zealand, Europe and North America.

Thisis very true and actually it comes to the same place on Chebeague almost every time it escapes
That first shot is very funny. It's probably a bit cold there for this species.
Thank you for your comments! This bird escaped for a few days this winter and then decided it was homesick and went right back to his enclosure. I think everyone thought he was gone forever this time.
Your photos are stunning!! And what better place then Maine to take these photos?
that's funny :-P. i also agree with ava and alice :-)
I've not seen a black swan with white wing feather before - very interesting!
That's a great inter-species action spotting!
