Field Notes

Description:

Typical slender pigeon-shape with a spotted patch on either side of neck.

Habitat:

Tree in open air breakfast area of the very modern hotel we stayed in Bangkok...it had no "campus" to speak of except this tiny place and there were two species of doves that I saw here.

Notes:

I put out grains at home and get dozens of these birds on my roof-top terrace ...it was like seeing a familiar face in a foreign land.
This species was formerly included in the genus Streptopelia.
