Field Notes

Description:

Very small, adults are only about 125 grams (4 oz). They have a long round tail and long, hairy hind feet. Uniform sandy color with no body markings.

Habitat:

Live in the desert of the Southwestern U.S. and Northern Mexico. Burrow in sandy ground, and stay in burrows during the winter.
