Description:

Mollusk? Large approx. 10" diameter,
Beaked, but fleshy not hard. Seemed to be 2 beaks.

seemed to be eating a snail. Found in shallows among rocks and sea caves on the beach. Appearance like a very large barnacle.

Very odd looking! The inner part is rather barnacle-like. Wonder what it is?
Looks like the remains of a squid. Except for the eating discription of the snail. Very interesting and good pictures.
wow never heard of or have seen anything like this. The ocean side is just amazing in California.
I think it's a piddock or a boring mya, but I'm leaning toward a flat tipped piddock.
