Field Notes

Description:

Captured it while eating it's prey. The right leg has been stepped over the kill. A dark brown raptor with a prominent black and white crest, underparts brown and finely barred with black and white. Keeps a lookout for prey from a high branch. Commonly seen hovering high up in pairs. Eats frogs, lizards, rats and snakes. Sometimes also hunts junglefowl or peafowl.
