Description:

A bold and curious bird, the Florida Scrub-Jay can become hand-tame in areas where it comes in contact with people. Unfortunately, it is restricted to the rare oak scrub community of Florida, a habitat under constant threat of development, and is classified as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Cornell Lab

Habitat:

endemic to Florida scrub lands

Notes:

Notice that the bird is banded...as are most of the Scrub Jays in this park.

Yes, his blueness did stand out. Some of the others I saw where much paler. ...and he was showing off a lot too and came very near.
Very nice series Claire. This bird seems bluer than some I have seen.
So the Western Scrub Jay is not a threatened species?
Beautiful bird! I take my daily visits by his Western Scrub-Jay cousin to my feader for granted, hope he has a bright future.
