Description:

Bold blooming, colorful Passion Flower

Habitat:

Spotted in patio of biology classroom in Poway, CA

Notes:

This pretty flower is almost the size of the palm of my hand, it closes at night and opens in the morning when it looks its best! It is naturally grown in eastern Peru and originates from Brazil. It blooms during the fall unlike most flowers that do in the spring.
I used a Canon G12 for this photo, it's a point and shoot so no special lenses. The beauty is all in the flower.

It has a lot of colours. It looks like a mandala. It is like an optical illusion. It is very colourful and beautiful. Form II Brown - Saint George´s School
Thank you so much for sharing!! This is one of my favorite flowers. I've tried growing some, but I always plant them too late and never get to see the flowers.
that first pic makes want to live in there. like it was a giant roof or something.
what an amazing plant
Stunning too! A natural kaleidoscope =) Great series!
Wow precioso - fantástico -bello que colores armonía fluye ...excelente
I don't know why that is, I'll edit it and try to see if there's any problems I can find, but thanks for letting me know.
It's weird that I have to type "Disneyland" in the local section of Missions for it to show up where as the other two new one's in California show up with just typing "California".
Thank you Laurie, you have some wonderful artful spottings too! And sure thing Cindy, it's really amazing how we can make our own missions now! I made one called Discover Disney for wildlife at Disneyland and the surrounding areas in California. Thanks for joining my mission too! :)
Hi Coral, thank you for joining the Southern California Wildlife Mission!
Wow...amazing nature is sooooo creative!!! great pics.
Thanks KurtisMcCurdy and CindyBinghamKeiser, i wish I had these in my backyard too. They're very striking and would fit in with the other strange plants I have.
Every time I look at this, it makes me want to find one at a nursery and put it in the backyard. So pretty!
The first shot is great! Really an incredible flower
Thanks for the compliments everyone! Mostly Microbe, this camera is a Canon PowerShot G12. It's my mom's camera that I got to borrow for the day to take pictures of classroom plants and animals! :)
