Description:

spider i have never seen before....bright red w/ light tan rear-end....found 3 of them under a log and they were wrapped in there own "web-cocoon's", anyone know why?

Yep, in the Genus Trachelas. One of the Ground Sac Spiders.

not poisonous to us, but their bites hurt like mad! sometimes in the summer when the females have egg sacs, you will find them while digging in the dirt.

are they poisonous? looked pretty dangerous...it was really bright red...couldnt really get good close-ups because they were really really fast once i ripped the "cocoon" a little...

Hard for me to be sure, but I think it's a Trachelas.

I don't remember off hand what they are called, but they hibernate for the colder months. That's why they were in their "cocoons". I have them in a book. I will flag post and respond when i find it
