Field Notes

Description:

An orange leaf beetle grub with stripes on it's body.
Seems like those are tiny legs.
About 7mm in length.
Not moving when I found it.
Those destroyed parts of the leaf is in fact eaten by the grub.

Habitat:

Tree leaves of Kinabalu National Park forest, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

I found this unusual "worm" laying still on it's side on a tree leaf in Kinabalu Park.
At first, I thought it was a fly maggot, after some Internet search, it appears to be a larva of the Pyrrhalta beetles.
>>>Map accuracy : 400m diameter.

I'm still not sure what species or family of beetle though.
I think it will matures into a beetle because I saw a similar beetle grub in an insect guide book.
This is a pretty animal! Do you have any idea what it turns into?
