Field Notes

Description:

Soft-looking bright white underside feathers. The rest of the body has a deep blue-grey color with bits of purple. The neck is mostly white halfway up with specks of brownish-red. Eyes are a pink-purple color. The beak is long, with it starting at a whitish-blue down to a dark blue. The back of the head has a couple of white long feathers that point down the neck.

Habitat:

Found in a waterway between two ponds. They then flew to a dead tree overhanging the pond.

Notes:

We spooked each other while they were fishing next to the pipe outlet between two ponds. They decided it would be better to fish on the tree farther into the pond.
