Field Notes

Description:

An enormous white mushroom (about a foot across and a foot tall when mature) with flat brown scales on the cap, very sturdy and heavy. The gills are decurrent (run down the stem).

Habitat:

Under sitka spruce, western hemlock & Douglas fir at Cape Perpetua
