Field Notes

Description:

A fast-diving falcon that prefers catching its prey in mid-flight. Dark "hood" on head, yellow eye-ring, bluish gray upperparts, dark spots on light buff breast, yellow toes and legs. Peregrines have been known to dive from great heights at speeds of up to 200 mph (320 kmph). This is a tedhnique known as "stooping."

Habitat:

Large range from open valleys to cities with tall buildings.

Notes:

Hoping to get the bird in better light some day.
