Small, strongly ridged shell-looking fossils in a large rock.

Habitat:

Found in a large rock that is part of a retaining wall.

This would actually be a cast of a brachiopod. A mold wold be an impression in the rock. A cast is when that mold is filled in. Excellent find!

They couldn't be shells if they are hundreds of millions of years old. The shell is replaced by something else. These types of creatures do still exist in some parts of the world. In PA.USA they will be fossils probably.
How do you know it's mold and not shells? I'm just curious because I used to see similar on the beach in San Diego
