Field Notes

Description:

Beside a 6 inch ruler. Track measured approximately 12 cm (5 in).

Habitat:

In Africa, lions can be found in savanna grasslands with scattered Acacia trees which serve as shade.

Notes:

During a 4-week ecotraining course in Kruger National Park, lion tracks were encountered much more frequently than lions. We only had two lion encounters the entire time, with a total of only 3 (2 females and 1 male) spotted.
