Field Notes

Description:

Dark greenish yellow on back and tops of wings, creamy yellow belly, approx 4.5 to 5 inches.

Notes:

Found in a desert Iron-wood Tree eating bugs off the leaves and branches. Located in Quartzsite, AZ.

I understand the Warblers are migrating now so maybe it's just passing through. Sorry pics aren't better.

I changed the scientific name to lutescens, which is the brighter yellow western species of the Orange Crowned Warbler. A quote from the Cornell Lab, All About Birds: "The Pacific Coast form, lutescens, is the brightest yellow. Found throughout the Rocky Mountains and Great Basin,"
Dont think so! http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/orange-crowned_warbler/id Too much grey at the head perhaps?
I'm going with the Orange crowned Warbler. They have a more distinct eye ring like this guy.
Maybe Yellow Palm Warbler - my book looks better than this link. http://www.connecticutwilderness.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=274&urlcode=02&species=Dendroica%20palmarum%20hypochrysea
i think you spotted the same kind of bird that I spotted the other day but I did not have a good lens to capture it check and compare http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7630446
