Field Notes

Description:

Nandina, also known as "heavenly bamboo," is a shrub ~4 feet tall, bursting with ripe red berries during late fall. The common name "heavenly bamboo" is a misnomer -- Nandina is not bamboo! Related Resource: "Bamboo" (one of my Project Noah spottings) http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7649489

Habitat:

Landscape planting in front of the "Peking Duck" Chinese food restaurant, Fairfax County, Virginia USA. Nandina is considered invasive in several states.
