Field Notes

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Nymphaliini; Hypolimnas bolina philippensis Butler 1874. Comparison with specimens displayed in Philippine Lepidoptera shows the butterfly in my pictures to be a female.

Habitat:

This Great Eggfly was spotted on Potato bean (Pachyrhizus erosus) in our backyard. This plant is known locally as Sinkamas.
