Field Notes

Description:

Low-growing plant with pointed ovate dark green smooth leaves coming from a central base and decorated with a white central rib

Habitat:

In deep needle duff under dense stand of Pinus contorta plus Sitka spruce, red cedar, etc. less than a mile from the ocean.

Notes:

I see it blooms up through September, but there was no flower stalk on this one. It looked like an orchid plant.
