Field Notes

Description:

This Orchard Spider spider was hanging upside down on its web and I thought I could see that he had a small prey creature in his grasp, but I was not sure. When I leaned forward to get a better view, the spider rapidly lowered itself to the ground and disappeared into the leaf litter. I did not see it again, despite returning two or three times to check. So, I only have one picture which shows that there is a prey item, but it is much too small to identify.

Habitat:

This spider was spotted on its web in a clump of bamboo in the rice mill backyard.
