Description:

A cherry blossom is the flower of any of several trees of genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese Cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is sometimes called sakura after the Japanese (桜 or 櫻; さくら).[1][2] Many of the varieties that have been cultivated for ornamental use do not produce fruit. Edible cherries generally come from cultivars of the related species Prunus avium and Prunus cerasus.

Wow, stunning! I read that the trees in Washington DC were a gift from Japan given to them in the early 20th century... how amazing! This looks so cool :) I have come to understand that there are tons of species of cherry blossom... so in the scientific name, I think you should just put Prunus sp. (the sp. stands for species, which is how you denote something of a known genus but unknown species... I'm sorry if you do know your stuff on taxonomy, just gotta make sure!). Great series :)
