Field Notes

Description:

Diptera; Culicidae; Armigeres; Armigeres subalbatus (Coquillett, 1898). The Mosquito shown here was spotted this afternoon, less than 2 ft. away from the Armigeres subalbatus in my spotting immediately before this one - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/558443081. I originally called this one Unidentified Culicidae because it looked different from the other one, on nearby vegetation and I couldn't find a match for this one online. However, when I started looking again (for distribution information for my previous spotting), I saw several pictures which made me realise that this is also Armigeres subalbatus. The slight differences appear to have been brought about by the lighting in the darker corner where this specimen was photographed.

Habitat:

Spotted this afternoon in our backyard.
