Field Notes

Description:

A strange running creature about 6mm.
Black legs and body.
The sides of it's body are lined orange.
There is a white dot on the back of it's abdomen.
At first I thought that this bizarre creature is an arachnid, some large mite species.
But after some close observation, I realized that it has too much body segments to be an arachnid and it's front pair of legs look more like a pair of antenna.
So I think it is an insect's young.
Thanks to martinl, I have now know that is a female Psyllid bug (Psyllidae) of the Hemiptera order.

Habitat:

Kinabalu National Park, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

This weird animal really amazed and confused me.
This is a challenge for me, an insect I came across that I can't really identify.
But now, I know that it is a Psyllid bug with the help of martinl.
>>>Map accuracy : 400m diameter.

Thank you, that was indeed helpful. Wow, I never suspected that it is a Psyllid bug because most of the species that I've seen are those "hairy" mealybugs.

Hello ChunXingWong I love your photos and your interest in bugs. This is a bug (Class;insecta Order;Hemiptera suborder;Sternorrhyncha,) It is a psyllid bug and seems to have six legs and a central proboscis which it uses to suck juices from plants, as all bugs do. Psyllids exhibit sexual dimorphism with males usually looking very different and having wings. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/mgg310/6101179797/ Many psyllid (females) form galls on plants and live their whole lives inside.
