Field Notes

Description:

Cap was mostly light orange-brown with a darker brown area in the middle. Pores were brown and did not bruise. Cap was approximately 8cm.

Habitat:

Growing on rotting wood in a mixed forest.

Notes:

The taxonomy for this species is a bit confusing as the name has recently changed, or might be changing soon? I think that Royoporus badius is the currently correct name for this mushroom, but it might also be synonymous with Polyporus picipes and Polyporus badius.

Photo No. 1: is a beautiful photo, with very pretty colors....
Thanks maplemoth. This orange and brown mushroom goes perfect with the fall colors since the leaves are already starting to change here.
