Habitat:

found growing in medium dense shade at the base of a Big Leaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) in a damp coastal woodland setting

Notes:

this particular fungi was photographed at the Illahee Reserve, a 308 acre wildlife reserve on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington. The reserve borders the western shore of Puget Sound.
