Field Notes

Description:

The common brushtail possum has large and pointed ears. It has a bushy tail (hence its name) with a prehensile tip and a hairless patch on the underside which helps it grasp tree branches.

Habitat:

The common brushtail possum is perhaps most widespread mammal of Australia. It is found throughout the eastern and northern parts of the continent, as well as some western regions.

Notes:

Spotted these cute guys whilst on holiday in Melbourne back in July. This was the first time I have ever seen one of these. They are known as pests to some people, but I thought they where adorable.

Super cute eh? I was amazed as I had never seen them before, but this park had so many of them chilling on the trees.
