I say it's a kite and my husband says its a hawk. What do the professionals say?...best you can from the grainy pics...thanks Noah friends!

That's a funny thing about Ospreys, they often fly out far from water where they made their catch. I have seen quite a few of them hanging out in the middle of a suburb far from any water.
Holly: could you please edit and zoom on the map and move the pin to as close to where you saw it as possible... Liam: i agree with you about the Osprey, but the pin on the map is in the middle of a town (Butler) and there is no large body of water (that i can see) anywhere near.
This is an Osprey. Note the brown tail, dark upperparts, pale underparts, and facial pattern. Also, it appears to be eating a fish, which is the Ospreys main source of food.
I don't think it's a kite I think you may be a little too far north and the bird here doesn't look as slender as a kite
When you saw it take off do you remember what it flew like? Did it take a few powerful flaps then glide (accipiter) or did it do a lot of flapping?
