Description:

Large shrub or small tree with small clusters of red fruits in pairs, opposite leaves. This plant is an invasive species in the eastern U.S.

Habitat:

Growing next to a walking path in a city park.

Thank you Lynne. I guess I don't know for certain if it was planted or just happened to grow there, but it is next to a path and the park maintenance folks mow around it. Perhaps it established there on its own and they decided to leave it. Either way, it is yet another naturalized invasive.

This shouldn't have been intentionally planted - it's another invasive species. It's been banned in Connecticut.
