hi dan, nice spotting, i myself search for this scenario, found mostly just empty one (flies or/and spores ). when the flies weren't there could suggest it with more certainty, but so can i only suggest that i suspect an "impudicus" beneath the flies. the genus "phallus" should it be surely! the flies spread the spores- same as the bees spread spores of flowers. but without the flies it would no longer be so special!
I knew they smelled bad to attract flies but I've never seen this many flies on them. I moved this from plants to fungi for you.
