Field Notes

Description:

Medium-sized white heron, slim and elegant. Black legs with sharply contrasting bright yellow toes. Bill black.

Habitat:

Nests colonially in dense trees and bushes at shallow marshy lakes, ribers and coastal lagoons.

Notes:

Little egrets have been recorded in Wales, but as far as I know, they are very rare so far North in England.
