Habitat:

Spotted on different parts of horse chestnuts (Aesculus) tree trunk.

Notes:

"Kav mantarı" in Turkish. The 5,000-year-old Ötzi the Iceman carried four pieces of F. fomentarius, concluded to be for use as tinder.
