Description:

A "drift" of snow buntings flying around the golf course arriving the same day as the first snow of the season. They are medium sized sparrow with their winter plummage of white with tans and black wing tips. They would land for a minute and then take off for another spot, land again and take off again traveling around the course.

The plane was heading to Washington from Portland Maine when after take off hit the flock (drift) of snow buntings and had to return to the jetport for and inspection. http://www.mpbn.net/News/MaineHeadlineNews/tabid/968/ctl/ViewItem/mid/3479/ItemId/18738/Default.aspx

Great info. Thanks for sharing. The jet had a problem with buntings or it crash landed due to problems in the landing gear?

Thank you, yesterday, Nov 1, 2011, a jet at Portland Airport ran into a flock of snow buntings and had to make an emergency landing and get checked out.
