Description:

red, sub-globose, bare cap, white gills and stem, pink on stem; thick white flesh

Habitat:

near Pinus contorta (shore pine) in sandy soil

Notes:

One looking like this was identified as a Russula sanguineous, but I don't know that species well enough to say this is the same.
