Field Notes

Description:

Mammal, black body with distinct white stripe from head to tail..
They are omnivores, approximately the size of a house cat as adults.

Habitat:

The Americas
Very common in the Great Lakes area, both in woodlands, and urban areas.

Notes:

Opportunistic feeders which have adapted to urban living, feeding on garbage, and are considered pests to some people. Can emit a pungent spray up to 10 feet, which effectively deters predators.

Taken as I lay on the grass 10ft away... All was well until someone accidentally slammed the cottage door! Hence the last photo..........The part of a skunk you DON'T want to see!
