Description:

Yellow flowers with green stripes. Not native and is invasive.

Habitat:

Front yard surrounded by Petty Spurge in partial shade.

Ok. Then I'd definitely go with Oxalis for the genus on this one. Sometime you should taste the leaf or stem - they have oxalic acid which makes them sour tasting, a bit like rhubarb.

Definitely a different plant. I just posted the leaves in a different spotting. I forgot to taste the flower though :(

Kristal, the more I look at it, I'm wondering if it was growing in the middle of the other plants. I can't find anything with the flower/leaf combo. I'll check it out tomorrow. BluberryLiLi, I love that you mentioned a non-dog area :) I'll taste it tomorrow as well!

We call those "sour flower." Pull it and chew on the stem. It's crunchy and sour. Make sure your sample doesn't come from an area inhabited by dogs ;0)

The flowers look like an Oxalis, though the leaves are confusing me. May require further investigation.
