Thanks, everyone, for the comments. I didn't know about the nectar or the scent - it was in a friend's garden and I don't visit often. The ants were definitely a nice bonus! :)
I see you have a bonus of ants likely tasting the honey also!
I like to taste the nectar too
There are often little drips of nectar exuding from the flowers that I like to taste. (Hasn't killed me yet) I love Hoyas and the asclepidaceae family.
Beautiful aroma at night as well.
