Cedar waxwing
Bombycilla cedrorum
35.9305, -79.055
Field Notes
Description:
In the late autumn, the cedar waxwings and American robins visit the red cedar trees to eat the juniper berries. We recently had about 11 inches of snow, which is unusual for the central part of our southern state, and this brought the cedar waxwings back. They were gleaning the trees to find the uneaten berries.
