Field Notes

Description:

Seed pods on a vine growing at woodland edge. Pods & seeds similar to milkweed in appearance but growth habit entirely different. Unfortunately the vine is devoid of leaves.

It seems like at least half of the flowers I find around here and really like are horrible invasives... but like your milkweed, they're still pretty.

search the name ...... i just did. It's a climbibg milkweed this gives you all the info you need Cynanchum laeve ..... run it through Google.

This is Cynanchum laeve (perhaps more frequently known by its old scientific name, Ampelamus albidus) and commonly known as honeyvine, honeyvine milkweed or climbing milkweed. Cynanchum laeve from the USDA Plants Database Honeyvine milkweed from the Virginia Tech Weed Identification Guide

I was just going to suggest milkweed, but you know your stuff Karen. Hmmm, a vine, eh? I'm not sure what it is.
