Field Notes

Description:

Brown, black and white flies with long, slender abdomens. These two were mating while flying.

Habitat:

Next to Toyon in our backyard

Thanks Laurie and KarenL. Ashish, I took 12 photo's before they were gone. I used manual focus. My Canon has a rotary dial focus on the back (unfortunately) but it has a zoomed screen so I can see the great detail before shooting. I had the in my sight for about 30 seconds max.
Oh.. truly... I wonder... how long you you fielded to grab better shot of them... How many shots you tried.. They do not rest for long time.. just keep flying in circular motion...
