I usually pick mushrooms in Eastern Europe, I didn't look at the map. Here the Honey Mushroom's most usual subspecies is A. Mellea so this is why this was my first suggestion. Having a second look at the habitat I would suggest Armillaria Solidipes (formerly Armillaria Ostoyae).
Thanks for your suggestion! I see that the species Honey Mushroom, the true Armillaria mellea, has not been reported in our area, the Pacific Northwest. But there are 4 other species of honey mushroom that do occur here and possibly others. I decided that Armillaria ostoyae fits best. Let me know if you think this is not correct! Thanks!
