Description:

The black-bellied plover and the dunlin were seen together along the shore of sand bar between Chebeague and Little Chebeague. This really helps to see the size difference between these two species. The plover is a medium sized shorebird (9-16in) and the dunlin is considered a medium sized sandpiper (5-9 in) The adult winter adult and juvenive are mottled gray and white.
