Yeah, it's not until you smell one of these that you realise how appropriate the name is. Stinkhorn! Absolutely! ;)
The specimen in the middle of the photo, is after I pulled it out of the ground, you can see another one untouched to the left under the grass. The odour is something else, very pungent, had 6 or 7 flies swarming around and ants crawling all over them
Your specimen has seen better days, but great spotting regardless. Here's the correct scientific name for you - Lysurus mokusin. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to Project Noah as well. I hope you have a great time here :)
