Field Notes

Description:

Lactarius mushrooms between 3 to 5 cm tall. Caps were between 2 to 5 cm in diameter, convex with a purplish center gradually turning yellow at the margins. Decurrent gills that either were orange or purplish like the cap. The smooth stems also had an orange to purplish colour. Perhaps Lactarius camphoratus or Lactarius rufus.

Habitat:

Grew on moss and leaf litter, mostly French oak leaves.

Notes:

Spotted in National Park De Hoge Veluwe, Holland.
