Field Notes

Description:

Looks like a male Broad-Billed hummingbird but the light coloration on the body is not normal. It was not making normal Broad-Billed calls, so could this be a hybrid?

It's an immature Broad-billed Hummingbird getting it's iridecsent feathers in or subadult male as this link shows toward the bottom of the page: http://www.jimburnsphotos.com/pages/broadbilledhummingbird.html I think it's too dark to be Buff-bellied.
The Buff-Bellied looks similar, but I agree it would be out of its normal range. I have been thinking perhaps this is a hummingbird in molt, which might make its coloration seem unusual?
Could it be a Buff-bellied (out of normal range)??? http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/865/_/Buff-bellied_Hummingbird.aspx or a Cinnamon???? http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/1102/_/Cinnamon_Hummingbird.aspx I'm just guessing from bill coloration.
It had a bright orange bill that looked like a broad-billed hummingbird but it had so much light coloration on its body that I don't think is normal for that species, especially given that it was likely a male since its head/chest were very colorful.
With that long, decurved bill, I suspect Black-chinned Hummingbird (Archilochus alexandri).
